Giant-Size Defenders #1

La historia se divide a lo largo del cómic: Primera parte (3 págs), un interludio tras la historia de Hulk (1 pag) un iterludio tras la historia de Namor (1 pag) y Parte 4: The Once and Again Dooms / Las Muertes Pasadas y Presentes (3 págs).

The military captures Rick and Ross convinces him that they need the Hulk to test a new experimental rocket for national security; Rick tricks the jade giant into the capsule but once it is shot into space, he realizes that Ross deceived him to get rid of his foe; Rick overrides the programming and returns the rocket to earth but not before Banner (he transformed back to his human form when the rocket came into view of the sun) is doused with further radiation; The Hulk is now unable to revert to his human form and is under Rick's control but only while Rick remains awake.

Quasimodo se encuentra solo tras ser abandonado por su creador y no puede vivir ni morir. Estela Plateada siente su tormento y le da forma humana como desea, pero Quasimodo recuerda que fue creado para destruir y le ataca. Estela Plateada le deja creer que le ha derrotado para observarle y le deja sosteniendo energía cósmica que le convertirá en una estatua.
